April 14, 2002-Dearborn, MI-The MacHack Papers committee is pleased to announce the finalists in this year's paper competition. MacHack papers are semi-academic monographs on a variety of engineering topics. These papers come from a variety of sources, from academics to engineers, new comers to MacHack regulars.

This year's crop of papers numbers eleven:

All of these topics will be presented not only as complete monographs in the conference proceedings, but also as full conference sessions. This presents a unique opportunity for the author to expand on their topic in an intimate session that allows for questions and answers.

The papers will also be the subjects of intense scrutiny since conference attendees will be selecting their favorite. The winning paper will be announced at the conference banquet. The author of the coveted "Best Paper" will get an all access pass to next years' conference, MacHack 18.

Secure registration and more information are available at the conference website.

Conference registration costs $475 (a $50 discount until 4/15/02) and includes access to all conference events, 3 meals and the conference banquet. Of course, attendance of the legendary Hack Show is mandatory. Secure registration and more information are available at the conference website. MacHack 17 will take place June 20-22, 2002, in Dearborn, Michigan. More information is available on the Web from .
